This Floss Boss cotton candy machine has a ribbon-style element - also called a flat wire element. It begins making candy a little more quickly than a machine with a tubular element, because you don't have a bunch of metal to heat up. Both ribbon and tubular machines work equally well, but the ribbon machine responds more immediately to adjustments in the heat control. This is only an issue if you have a bunch of different people running this machine.
